Steer clear of using Round Up on zoysia lawns. It will kill your grass!

RT @nickchhan: I have a current desire to have a picnic on a breezy day, hear the slow running water off a nearby waterfall and lay on some zoysia grass

Just finished clipping the lawn edges a little & trying to weed out some of the nut grass from my Emerald Zoysia.

Zoysia grass, like deciduous trees, goes dormant after the first hard frost, when cold weather is moving in.

You may notice your grass is starting to come back to life! ( Zoysia is the first out of the gate, St. Augustine... http://bit.ly/bBFhCA

4 Stars Pros and Con
We had previously owned a weed cutter and enjoyed using it. After it finally died, we looked for another one and found this Poulan wheeled weed cutter. It was easy to take out of the box and it started like a charm. It cuts great too. The negative I have is that we purchased the model that you can tilt the head to make it into an edger and no matter how tight we try to get it, it will tilt after continued use. I think it loosens from the vibration. It is really a nuisance at the moment, but it could become a problem if it continues. I am hoping that we will run across a trick to keeping it from doing this. My other negative is that it is pretty heavy so if you are trying to cut downhill you need to have strong shoulders.

1 Star Poulan Pro not good.
On a scale of 1 to 5, I give this product a 1 ONLY because it started up immediately out of the box. Unfortunately, it did not turn off. I had to pull the spark plug to stop it. The throttle control is stuck on ON. Because the inside of the box was splattered with motor oil, it was obvious that this machine was factory-tested. If the machine did not turn off for me, it obviously did not turn off for the technician. Why then, was it passed for shipping? I will NEVER buy another Poulan product again, not just because of this, but because I also own a Homelite wheeled weed trimmer and the design and construction is so much superior to the Poulan. The balance is better, the wheels are larger, the machine is tighter (e.g., no wobbling in the handle), and one can turn off the gas to the engine when the machine is not in use. All quality machines have this feature. I cannot stress my disappointment in myself that I did not purchase another Homelite. And so goes the expression, “Live and Learn.”

1 Star No good except for non-bumpy flat land
I’m disappointed. This is no good for slopes, bumpy or not, bumpy flat land, or pulling it backwards. It is very un-stable, needs four pneumatic wheels not two hard plastic ones. A weed wacker does a much better and faster job. I do not recommend this.

4 Stars great trimmer
It arrived from the factory with a broken handle–Poulan had one shipped to me 2 days after I contacted them about the problem (amazon offered to ship a complete new unit immediately)— now working the trimmer exceeds our expactations.

Thanks to Poulan and Amazon for their excellent customer service

4 Stars Impressive, powerful string trimmer
I’ve been using this for several weeks, and have to say this is an impressive tool! The trimmer arrived with a broken handle knob - emailed Poulan with issue and they promptly sent a replacement. Out of the box, with oil and fuel added, it started on 2nd pull. With the original trimmer line, it slices through my heavy, wet grass and weeds with nary a stall. I managed to snag a piece of barbed wire around the head, which DID bring it to a stop and broke both the strings. But clearing the tangle, replacing the trimmer line, and starting again was a cinch. It has plenty of power!! Be sure to wear eye protection - the cutting head spins at an incredibly high speed and rocks or other pieces of small debris do occasionally hit the operator. Couple of improvements I would like to see: 1) padding for the handle and 2) a bushing for the drive linkage (it rattles fiercely when the engine is on but the cutting head is idle). Overall, very happy with my purchase!
