Lawn Tractor Tires
It is a simple process to change your lawn tractor tires if you have the right tools and knowledge. This procedure is easy to learn from your garden center professional, but the following instructions, tips, and tricks will help you get started. Remember to ask for help when you need it so that you will stay safe and your machine will remain in working condition.
The first step to changing the flat tire is to move your lawn tractor to level ground. This will prevent the tractor from moving as you attempt to replace the tire. If possible, use an air compressor to pump up the flat tire so that it rolls with ease to the new location. Once there, shut off the engine, pull the emergency break, and remove the keys from the ignition. Lock the other tires so they cannot move. These steps will keep you safe during your work. Also, wear gloves to prevent damage to your hands and fingers.
Clean the flat tire if necessary and loosen the nuts used to hold it in place. If any of the nuts are too tight to be removed, ask for help or call a professional. If you cannot remove every nut, you cannot change the tire.
Consulting your user manual if necessary, place the jack on the chassis and Changing Lawn Tractor Tiresraise the wheel you wish to change. Remove all of the nuts and lift the tire from your tractor. Ask for help if it is too heavy. Tractor tires are often larger than the tires on your car, so you should not attempt to lift one if you have back problems or other medical conditions.
Clean the dirt, grass, and leaves from the brake drum and around where the flat tire has been. Replace the tire with a fresh, inflated one and twist the nuts back into place. Your old tire can be repaired by a service professional, or the local waste department can recycle it. If you have any problems, do not attempt to continue the process, and instead ask for help. This will keep your lawn tractor tires and machine in working condition for summers to come.
